Atlanta Alive: Street Art & Social Justice Tour

While the stories of art in any city are often easy to interpret, many sculptures and murals have a much bigger and powerful backstory. The history of this southern city, the culture and national events are currently influencing the artists who create art in public spaces throughout Atlanta. Guests will explore sections of town that rely on the expression of art as an identifier of their community. We will also examine how art through the placement of statues on public grounds were used to remind citizens that the Confederacy mindset was alive and well during the Jim Crow era of the 20th Century.
